-William receives call-up papers, leaves to visit Father. Medical "next Wednesday". Matthew "coming home in a fortnight." Mary "was going to ask Richard Carlisle about then. For Saturday to Monday." Molesley drops off book for Anna.
-Edith starts work on Longfield Farm. Molesley asks Anna about book. "You only gave it to me yesterday."

-Saturday - Edith at Longfield farm. Thomas arrives back to downton. Richard Carlise arrives. Lang has difficulty serving dinner, and later a flashback. Carson collapses at dinner.
- Mary goes walking with Carlisle. Thomas reads a letter to Lt. Courtenay.

- Clarkson discusses turning Downton Abbey into a convalescent home with Sibyl and Mrs. Crawley. Mary sees Carlisle off on the train. Mary talks to Lavinia. Edith kisses Mr. Drewe. Lord Grantham tells Mrs. Patmore about her nephew. William visits Downton.
-Mrs. Drewe sends a note that Edith need not return to the farm.
