Monroe Doctrine and Roosevelt Corollary (Imperialism) (2 dic 1823 año – 6 dic 1904 año)
Descripción:
The Monroe Doctrine declared that any attempt of European colonization in the Western Hemisphere would be considered a threat to America. This was the first step in America’s empire-building. It was legal precedent that set imperialism into motion and justifies global American involvement. This part of American history then becomes part of world history since the US gets more involved. The intention of the Monroe Doctrine was so that America could extend into Central and South America and extend slavery with that expansion. Other ways that the US expanded was through the Mexican-American War, Louisiana Purchase, and the Spanish-American War.
