The black death, which took place in Europe, is believed to have been the caused by an infection the bacterium Yersinia pestis. I don't really know what it is , but I did find that it can infect humans via the oriental rat flea. It originated in China during a war they had catapulted dead bodies with the virus into the villages in attempt to get them sick. Then when they got infected ships unkowingling carried the virus across the seas. To get rid of the black Death they started to quarantine people. This is also were the song ring around the rosie came from.
