First Cholera Pandemic (1 ene 1817 año – 1 ene 1824 año)

Descripción:

The First Cholera Pandemic originated in the Ganges River delta in India. Trade and colonization spread it throughout Asia, the Middle East, eastern Africa, and the Mediterranean. It was the first pandemic of cholera. The number of people it killed is unknown, but is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands. The cholera outbreak most likely originated from water that was warm and salty. The disease was transmitted by drinking contaminated water, or eating contaminated food. Cholera symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, cramps, dehydration, and shock. A person who has contracted cholera can die within a matter of hours. Eventually, the outbreak died out, thanks to an especially harsh winter.
