Though the photography was first invented in 1826, and popularized in 1830, the first photograph portrait of a person ever was in 1839, by Robert Cornelius. Since then, photography has been advancing faster than anything and is considered a form of art as valid as any other. Though panted portraits were still around in that time, photography only became more and more popular.
