Was a Republican. Known as "Silent Cal." Didn't do much but he was ok.

Tried to be less corrupt, but maintained same economic policies of helping business over workers. Earned him a lot of criticism from progressives. Didn't really have any public role while VP, so nobody knew what to expect. Overall pretty similar in ideology to Harding. Big focus on business. Fosters a lot of economic growth with sec of commerce Herbert Hoover. Implements 3 different tax cuts. Only the very top percentage of earners paid any income tax at all. Scales back government spending. Pays down 1/4 of the national debt. Continues some progressive policies though, such as civil rights legislation, crackdown on lynchings. Appoints some black and Jewish men to office. Not very vocal about these policies, does them more in the background. Wins reelection easily.
