Mexican Revolution (20 nov 1910 año – 21 mayo 1920 año)
Descripción:
US propped up the corrupt Porfirio Diaz because he was good for trade. 1910 Mexican people revoled, endangering US interests. Elected Francisco Madero. He gets executed by Victoriano Huerta. Huerta seized power and US pressures him to step down in favor of the elected government. Invaded and took the port of Veracruz. Continued occupation until Venustiano Carranza took power. Because the US supported Carranza, his rival Pancho Villa raided the town of Columbus, New Mexico, in March 1916, and killed over a dozen soldiers and civilians. Wilson sent several thousand soldiers led by General "Blackjack" Pershing to enter northern Mexico and capture Villa. But Villa eluded Pershing for nearly a year and, in 1917, with war in Europe looming and great injury done to U.S.-Mexican relations, Pershing left Mexico.
