Market becomes international. No longer selling just within the US. Spurred on by railroad development. Henry Bessemer patents Bessemer process for making steel, making steel production better and faster. Contributed to railroads. Expansion means more discovery of oil and coal. Telegraph really takes off. Bunches of lines all across the US. Had a transatlantic cable as well. Spurred on the market. Invention of telephone important as well. Start of the market monopoly and millionaire CEOs (robber barons), ex J Pierpont Morgan, Andrew Carnegie, John D Rockefeller...

By 1920 a majority of the nation's population lived in cities. In the 1890s thousands of immigrants from Poland, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Lithuania arrived in major cities across the country. Chicago grows especially quickly thanks to the convergence of railroads there.
