Pushed away from their Rocky Mountain homes by Mormon settlers. 1862 Gen James Carlton decides Navajo should be moved to a desert area in the Bosque Redondo Valley, 300 miles from their homeland. 1863 Col Kit Carson rounds up the Navajo population and escorts them in a series of ruthless marches to the reservation until 1866. Those who resisted were shot. Condition on res horrible.
