This treaty was signed by American diplomats in Mexico and given the following: The Rio Grande was recognised by Mexico as the southern frontier of Texas. In New Mexico and California, the U.S. took possession. In return, Mexico will obtain $15 million and take responsibility for any American citizens' lawsuits against Mexico
