War of 1812 (18 jun 1812 año – 18 feb 1815 año)

Descripción:

War started because Britain is continuing to impress American sailors. They also implemented a tax on foreign vessels trying to pass through the area. Also, US pissed at Britain for supplying resources to Tecumseh.

US forces start to invade Canada while Britain is occupied with Napoleon. Lots of naval battles. British capture Detroit, but US retook. Also killed Tecumseh, ending Western Confederacy. Pretty much a stalemate on the water.

Launched 2nd offensive against Canada. Won first successes. Britain only has small ships on the water b/c occupied with Napoleon. Win a couple of naval battles at Lake Champlain and Chesapeake Bay. The latter inspires the national anthem.

Napoleonic Wars now over, so Britain has full forces. Put a blockade on US ports. Burn down DC August 1814. Britain wins a naval victory at Lake Borgne but lost to AJ's troops when they tried to land. AJ moves to New Orleans, winning a massive victory. However, Battle of New Orleans technically after the peace was signed.
