In response to Jay's treaty, French start attacking US ships. Initially, Americans supported the French Rev, but it got crazier and crazier. So, JA sends some delegates to France to figure it out. The diplomats reported that the french delegates (codenames X, Y, and Z) tried to solicit a bribe from them. Caused a huge scandal. Caused the American public to turn against France.
