Rise and fall of the Berlin wall (14 agos 1961 año – 9 nov 1989 año)

The communist government of the German Democratic Republic began to build a wall to separate the East and West of Germany. They built it because they wanted to keep facists and the stemming mass defections from the east to the west. Only citizens of the GDR could go past the wall. The creation of the Berlin wall caused a lot of GDR citizens to leave East Germany. The current US president, John F Kennedy did not mind the wall because he said that a wall is better then a war. The wall was taken down because of the USSR losing its power and the communist bloc was starting to fall. As well as the German government was focusing on a free country.
