Qianlong, Kangxi's grandosn, reigned from 1736 to 1795, and his reign marked the peak of the Qing dynasty. Like his grandfather, Qianlong was a very sophisticated and enlightened man as he supposedly composed more than one hundred thousand poems and he was very interested into painting and calligraphy. During his reign, the imperial treasury bulged so much that Qianlong cancelled tax collections. During the end of his reign, Qianlong was not very involved in affairs and left that for his favorite eunuchs.
