Clara Schumann (1 oct 1819 año – 1 nov 1896 año)
Descripción:
Nationality: German
Recognized as a child prodigy from her first public appearance at age nine, she toured Europe and earned the praise of Goethe, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Paganini. By 10, she was one of the leading pianists in Europe and had many published works to her credit.
She and Schumann got engaged, but their marriage was opposed by Friedrich Wieck (her father) and it took a lawsuit in 1840 for the wedding to be able to happen. She curbed her concert touring after marrying Robert and while raising 8 children, though she continued to perform and compose. After Robert's death, she performed and taught, but ceased composing, turning instead to promoting and editing her husband’s music. She concertized until 1891, and taught until her death in 1986.
