Descripción:

A Polish virtuoso pianist and composer known for her salon music aimed at both the middle class and the aristocracy. Musicologists know little about her early life, but she likely began taking piano lessons and performing in aristocratic homes from age nine. In 1810, she made her performing debut in Warsaw before later touring in Russia, eventually earning the title of First Pianist at the Imperial Court. She had close relationships with poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and influential composers such as Józef Elsner and John Field. Szymanowska is most notable for introducing the nocturne into the Polish piano repertoire.
