Peasant Revolt of 1894 (11 ene 1894 año – 29 mar 1895 año)
Descripción:
In 1894, a major peasant revolt erupted against the
Korean government, partly in response to the presence of Japan in the
country’s affairs. When the Korean government asked China for assistance,
Japan declared that Korea had violated the Japan–Korea Treaty, and occupied
the capital city with 8000 troops. It installed a government and assassinated
its main opposition leader, Empress Myeongseong, in 1895. Japanese
interference in Korean affairs led to war with China.
