Josephus relates an interesting account concerning Alexander the Great when his army arrived at Jerusalem after conquering Tyre and Gaza. A procession of priests came out of the city to greet him, and the High Priest showed him Daniel's ancient predictions. He could not have failed to recognise the goat from the west, symbolizing Greece, with its conspicuous horn representing himself. (Daniel 8, Antiquites 11.8.5) Of course, the ram with two horns was the twin power of MediaPersia, but it was struck down and its two horns broken. This prophecy had just become reality in the battle of Issus in 333 BC. Alexander was more than impressed with the sacred writing, and Jerusalem was spared._____

There are various dates used to establish the change from the Greek to Roman Empire. It doesn't appear to me that the date is relevant. The reason I'm illustrating 27 BC as the transition date is because the last of the 4 horns of the goat of Daniel ends with the death of Cleopatra, and shortly after Octavian is given the title of Augustus by the Roman Senate.
