Elias travels South Andean highlands around Lake Titicaca, meeting people like Nayra the wise woman. Their testimony leads him to believe the cult is active.

He is warned of Luis de Mendoza. This leads him to Larkin, and he decides to join Larkin’s group undercover. However de Mendoza hears rumors of an African American man asking questions, he suspects Elias.
