In June of 1942, the Germans continue to push farther into the Soviet Union. The battle of Stalingrad last nearly seven months, costing 200,000 German lives and more than a million Soviet lives. In January 1943, the Soviet offensive forces the Germans to surrender. The battle of Stalingrad is where the USSR turns the tide of the eastern front.
