The Cuban Missile Crisis (2 h 30 m, 14 oct 1962 año – 2 h 30 m, 14 oct 1962 año)
Descripción:
This was the closest The US and USSR came to nuclear warfare. The Cuban Missile Crises started when the US found out that the USSR was occupying Cuba and was supplying them with nuclear missiles. the Cuban missile Crises peaked when a patrolling USSR submarine and US navy battleship crossed paths while they nearing each other the submarine was hit by a small depth charge and thought the Cold War turned into a nuclear war. while the submarine was too deep to receive messages from the US battleship the decided that they would either load up one of there nuclear missiles and fire at the US or just go back to Cuba to receive orders. three of the leaders of the submarine needed to agree to launch nuclear missiles at the US two of the leader agreed while one Vasili Arkhipov refused to launch missiles. After the Cold War Vasili Arkhipov was called the man who saved the world.
1. This event could have easily have been the worst event in the world if Vasili agreed to launch the missile the worst case scenario would be that the Earth would have a nuclear winter which would kill almost everything
2. what was gained or lost? as a result of this there was somewhat more trust between the US and USSR because they were able to come to terms with the US withdrawing nuclear weapons in Turkey and Italy and the USSR no longer having weapons in Cuba.
3. All that has happened during The Cold War is a sign that the second coming is coming closer.
4.Does the event demonstrate the hand of Providence in history? Yes this is one of the closest humans have gotten to extinction.
5. If anything was truly gained from this "Crisis" is the trust that the US and USSR built. Maybe nothing different would have happened if the USSR did not occupy Cuba.
