The Chinese Civil War (1 dic 1945 año – 1 oct 1949 año)

The CCP beat the People's Republic of China (PRC) to gain control of mainland China. The CCP however are very weak and do not have a lot of military power.

1. what was gained? The Communist party took over China and had a leader, Mao Zedong, that wanted his country to be great (or was this more for his own desires).

2. What was lost? about two and a half million people died and Mao Zedong caused The Great Leap Forward which ended in a catastrophe for China's development and the people.

3. how did the war effect people's liberty? Before The Great Leap Forward the people had a lot more freedom then previously led communist governments. But during and after The Great Leap Forward the Chinese people had almost no freedom.

4. Did the Chinese Civil war effect the family? While the communist government was gaining power between the civil war and The Great Leap Forward there was mostly peace but after if you did not support Mao then your parents were publicly humiliated and put in jail and beaten.

5. How did the event set the stage for subsequent events? It set the stage for The Great Leap Forward which was more like a Great Leap Backward because of all the deaths, distrust and anger towards the government, among other things.
