DNA is a Double Helix Structure James Watson, Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins, Rosalind Franklin (1 ene 1953 año – 1 ene 1953 año)

Descripción:

In 1952, Watson and Crick had met with Erwin Chargaff to discuss Chargaf’s findings and rules he had laid out. Watson and Crick became curious about the structure of the DNA which had been questioned, researched, and thought of over the past recent years but with no solid evidence of structure. With the background evidence from Chargaff, Avery and team, and Levene Watson and Crick began researching including taking X-Rays using the X-Ray crystallography technique. Maurice Wilkins presented Rosalind Franklin’s crystallography at the Cavendish Laboratories in the United Kingdom and the two scientists then used them to finish the structure theory and display-- the Double Helix, and published their findings in the Nature articleThis highly recognized and praised discovery acts as a major milestone in the research and studies of DNA, genes, and the base of all living organisms. The structure has helped scientists determine how DNA transferred through species, duplicates, etc. However, many still questioned the theory including scientists Pauling and Corey who suggested a triple helix only a month later.
