Discovery of DNA Fredrick Miescher (1 ene 1863 año – 1 ene 1863 año)

Descripción:

As a student of Hoppe-Seyler, Miescher was researching the composition of lymphoid cells (white blood cells) after Pasteur and Mendel had disproved the theory of spontaneous generation among cells and claimed that cells could only be created by cells, Frederick Miescher wanted to know the chemical composition of cells in general, what makes a cell, a cell. Through various experiments conducted in Hoppe-Seyler’s lab located in Germany, Miescher’s observations led him to the nuclei as the focal point. From there, it was realized that DNA was the source of his suspicion. Following the discovery of DNA, Miescher conducted more experiments trying to separate DNA from the cell, which led him to confirm DNA was not a protein. The discovery of DNA at first held little significance in the scientific world and was not until Avery and team’s as well as Hershey and Chase’s evidence of DNA holding genetic material that DNA became widely known and used in daily research. In general, however, the discovery of DNA has led to many more discoveries, realizations, and has built the foundation for a whole new branch of science.
