The union had captured the Confederates South Side Railroad supply line and the Confederacy was failing. The Confederates were hungry and were missing many supplies.(2 April, 1865)

Lincoln's second Inaugural Address was on March 4, 1865. He talked about how slavery was the cause of the war. He also stated that the human suffering brought from the civil war was God's Will.
