Sugar Act (5 abr 1764 año – 5 abr 1766 año)

The Sugar Act was put in place to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses from the Dutch and French. It lowered the tax on molasses and sugar from 6 pence to 3 pence. They did so because with a lower tax it would be easier to pay the tax than to smuggle the goods in.
