The Great Chinese Famine (1 ene 1958 año – 1 dic 1962 año)
Descripción:
(Term 2) This famine was caused by decisions made because of Mao Zedong's Great Leap Forward for China, including radical agricultural changes, faulty economic management, and social pressure. The famine resulted in the deaths of about 45 million people because of insufficient food supply and overworked citizens.
1. It displayed the dangers and flaws of communism. The leaders that knew about the starving people lied and said all was well which resulted in the death of tens of millions of Chinese people.
2. It proved many false studies and ideas wrong... (Planting seeds deeper in the earth, killing all the sparrows, etc)
3. It shows how China tries to cover up all the terrible things that have happened there that have greatly impacted the world. Covering up events and twisting history is much easier for the government to do under communist rule.
