Descripción:
The third offense of Britain in Ypres in Belgium was known as the Passchendaele (meaning it was the third battle of Ypres). However during this battle, both sides failed to achieve any sort of significant gains, although causalities were substantial. The Allies Powers manages to get only around 8km of territory with 325,000 causalities, and the German troops had 260,000. This battle was famous for the mud that was created as a result of it. This was create by the constant shelling, which destroyed the clay soil and thus smashed the drainage systems. This produced thick mud which clogged up rifles and immobisiled tanks. The mud had eventually became so deep that horses and men were drowning in them.
