Wisconsin's Response to the Civil War (1 ene 1860 año – 1 dic 1861 año)

During 1860 to 1861, 11 southern states left the South. This happened when the Confederate forces attacked the U.S. military base at Charleston, South Carolina. After that Wisconsin residents started to join up with the Union because of Abraham Lincoln. People started to volunteer into going into the war for the Union after leaving the Confederate. There was over 91,000 soldiers to 56 regiments, 77,375 to the infantry, 8,877 to cavalry, and 5,075 to the artillery. Every single person fought in every major battle of the Civil War. New recruits went to Milwaukee, Racine, Fond du Lac, and Madison to go train. Camp Racine was Wisconsin’s major training area and also held many Confederate prisoners of war.
