Descripción:
Benjamin Franklin used the words of Haudenosaunee leader, Canasetoga as he gave advice to American colonists about their dissatisfaction with British Rule. First Nations opinions and beliefs were finally being represented through the government.
The Great of Law of Peace and the Constitution of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, both outline the establishment of equality between all citizens. Also guaranteed the rights and freedoms of individuals which can be seen with the freedom of speech. It is believed that this is not a coincidence these beliefs are present within Western society. The leaders of the American government took the aborignial’s beliefs about equality into consideration when forming a constitution. These beliefs about Individual rights and freedoms are still present within our society to this day, and therefore represents the significance of liberalism not only in our society but First Nation society as well.
