John Hus (1372-1415) (1 ene 1372 año – 1 ene 1415 año)

Descripción:

From Bohemia (Czech) and was moved by Wycliffe’s writings. His critiques were very similar to Wycliffe’s. He took a gamble and attended the Council of Constance (1414-1418) because he was guaranteed safety. It backfired - he was burned at the stake as a heretic.

Constance also condemned Wycliffe posthumously. They dug up his bones and conducted a trial and found him guilty. His ashes were put in the River Swift.

Hus’s followers began to administer the bread AND wine at Communion (previously, wine was only for clergy).

Constance reinforced that the wine was only for clergy.

After the death of Hus, the people of Bohemia rebelled in the “Hussite Wars” over a period of several decades.
