The Stolen Generation (1 ene 1910 año – 1 ene 1970 año)
Descripción:
The Stolen Generation went from 1910 to 1970. 60 years of Aboriginal Australians being discriminated towards them and them not being treated equally and fairly. In these 60 years, Aboriginal children were taken from their homes by British trackers and taken to camps to learn how to be "white."
The living conditions at these camps were very poor. They had to do everything by themselves and the camps weren't very nice to be in. The beds weren't comfortable and they had to eat not very appetising food. These children tried to run back home to their families but were found and whipped. Many didn't survive but some did.
This is called the stolen generation. Kids who were stolen and taken against their will. These children were considered half-caste children. This means that one parent is Aboriginal and the other is white. They were also considered fauna-animals.
This was discrimination and racism. The British were being very cruel towards to original owners of Australia. They were treating the Aboriginal Australians unfairly and not equally. It took some time for us to realise how bad we were treating them until someone apologised.
