In July 1914, there was a major conflict that changed history. This is known as World War One. It is also known as The Great War or the First World War. The countries that were included in WWI were Germany, Australia-Hunagry, Bulgaria, Australia, Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Japan, Romania and the United States. There were two sides in the war, The Central Powers and The Allies. This conflict lasted four years. It lasted from 1914 to 1918.
In WWI, thousands of people died and millions injured. It also caused many destructions to environment.

On the 25th of April, the ANZACs arrived in Gallipoli. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The ANZACs were the Australian and New Zealand soldiers. They fought in WWI and many of them lost their lives in the battle. The living conditions in war were very inadequate. The soldiers had to do a lot of work and they lived in tents with a lot of other soldiers. Some of them got diseases and died from that but majority of them died from the bombs. Soldiers had to work together to get success. 156,000 soldiers were wounded and 60,000 of those 156,000 were killed.

World War One was very significant to Australia's history because it changed peoples lives and Australia wanted to prove them as nation. This event led into World War Two 21 years later.
