The German Coast Uprising (8 ene 1811 año – 10 ene 1811 año)

Descripción:

A group of about 25 slaves in Louisiana, led by a mulatto slave driver named Charles Deslondes, rise up an take over the Andry's sugar plantations. They kill one of the owner's sons, but allow the master to escape. The Andry plantation is tactically chosen because it is a warehouse for the local militia, and this allows the rebels to grab guns and ammunition.

The begin the march to New Orleans, intending to take over the city. On their way, they sing Creole protest songs, pillage plantations, and gather more followers.

The insurgents are stopped about 20 miles from New Orleans by governor Wade Hampton, US Army soldiers, and white militia members. They fight a battle, which ends when the slaves run out of ammunition. Many of the remaining rebels are slaughtered outright. The survivors are captured and later exectued.
