Rudolf I was King of Germany and the Holy Roman Empire, after a diet elected him when Fredrick II died in 1250. Rudolf was the first Habsburg King, starting a long line of Habsburg rulers. They ruled in Germany for 650 years, and produced kings for Hungary, Bohemia, Portugal, Galicia, Croatia, and Spain, with ties to many more. Because of this, The Hapsburg line is one of the most famous and influential ruling families in European history.
