Chmielnicki Uprising (1 ene 1648 año – 1 ene 1654 año)

The uprising broke out as a result of strained relations between the Polish rulers and Kossacks, living on the lands comprising the modern-day Ukraine, oppressed on the grounds of religion economy.
Initiated by Bohdan Chmielnicki, a Rusyn nobleman with a personal grudge against a Polish landowner, the uprising was supported by Tatars, lead by Tughay Bey.
1648 - first Polish defeat
1649 - Battle of Zborów. Tatars bribed not to interfere. A short-lived agreement is reached, with Ukraine nearly gaining independence.
1651 - The Commonwealth launches an attack on Kossacks in Berestechko.
1652 - Battle of Batoh. A victory for Chmielnicki. In a following battle, Tatars again prove unreliable. Chmielnicki decides to get allied with Russia.
In 1654, the Russo-Polish war begins.
