-1920: the soviet union sent technical, political, and military advisors to help modernize china's army.
-1929: sun yixian died. Chiang kai-shek became the leader of the nationalists.
-1926: Chiang began a military campaign against the warlords called the northern expedition. The nationalists gained control of the Hunan province in the Wunan area.
-1927 (A): Chiang expelled all soviet advisors from the country and moved against the left wing members.chiang and his followers wanted a strong efficient government. They did not want a democratic one.
-1927 (B): Massive construction projects of roads and railroads began along with a national bank. Later education was improved.
-1921 (A): a small group of intellectuals meet in shanghai and founded the chinese communist party.
-1921 (B): The founders of chinese communism hoped to free their country from foreign domination and economic backwardness. They cooperated with the kumintang to defeat the regional warlords.
