This was one of the greatest deals in US history. Thomas Jefferson bought all of Louisiana from Napoleon and the French. For only fifteen million dollars! The way deal originated was Napoleon took away the right of deposit from America. So Jefferson offered him ten million for New Orleans. Napoleon offered a counter offer and the rest is history.
