While Italian inventor Antonio Meucci is the original inventor of the first phone in 1849, the first patent for the device was in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. The telephone had a mjor impact on communication. Like the steam engine, the telephone was much more reliable and fast compared to what was available at the time. The telelphone is surely one of the most important inventions and has had an immense impact on the world that we live in today, with fast, worldwide communication.
