As you can see from this picture it lookes like the croc today it has a face of a gharial and the body of a modern croc. This was in the same area a the past ancestor was just better adapted to the mushy swaps like the modern crocodiles. Just by looking at this ancestor you could immediately see that it look like a crocodile well that's because it is, from the jaw to the elongated tail and the bumps and grooves on its skin, also where the limbs are placed.
