The Victorian age starts with Queen Victoria I as she takes the throne in 1837. This Time period is known as relatively peaceful and it gave time for not only Great Britain but several countries in Europe to develop their country.

The industrial revolution brought social, economic and technical change to England, The british empire reigned over 25% of the earths surface at this time. USA, Germany and Japan caught up with Great Britain with the impact the industrial revolution had. Therefore Britains stance in the world was weakened when other nation became more and more powerful.
