Sought aid of Henry III of England, but this was stalled and refused in 1258. Talks with other smaller states.
Pope Alexander IV preached for it in 1259.
Discussions with James in 1260. James had truce with Tunisia and was planning to crusade in Holy Land.

Finally launched in 1260, likely targeting Ceuta, but actually reaching Salé- [O'Callaghan, The Gibraltar Crusade: Castile and the Battle for the Strait, p. 23-25.]

Ambition fully over in 1264 with Mudejar rebellion.
