Ernest Rutherford and the Gold Foil Experiment (11 dic 1909 año – 1 ene 1913 año)
Descripción:
While trying to test/prove the plum pudding model by Thomson, he shot alpha particles through a gold foil. He expected the alpha particles to go straight through it. While most did, some deflected off of the foil, and some even bounced back! This led him to rethink the plum pudding model, which led him to make the Rutherford model with Bohr. That the atom had a dense core called the “nucleus”, and that the electrons were in a very non-dense dense place called the “electron cloud”, which surrounded the nucleus. He worked with Neils Bohr.
