Indian Termination Policy (1 jun 1940 año – 8 jun 1970 año)
Descripción:
Until the 40s, Native American tribes had a degree of sovereignty, but after World War II, a series of laws took that away. People didn't like the idea of any one group being special, so they took away tribes' independence. People genuinely thought the policy would help, but it wasn't thought through enough. The government terminated over 100 tribes, selling their land and taking away aid. Natives who had been living off the land were crushed economically, and most natives didn't have enough money to buy their land back.
