This was a time when Europe was very interested in expanding the known lands and discovering new people and opportunities. Through this surge of exploration many people learned about Africa and eventually the New World, America. They learned about trade prospects as well as their culture and ways of life. Navigational skills and mapping were immensely improved and sought after. But the greatest thing is that most of these explorers were Christians, so this gave the opportunity to share the Gospel with these indigenous tribes.
