He is made a prefect. Tom is in the Slug Club and has asked Slughorn about Horcruxes. He learns how to open the Chamber and releases the basilisk. Moaning Myrtle died in june of 1943. She was being teased be a Olive Hornby so she fled to the second floor bathroom to sulk. She hears Tom's voice so steps out of the stall to tell him off for being in the girls washroom but instead sees a great big yellow eye.
