Codex/Codices in Pre-colonial Mayan region (1200 CE) (1 ene 1200 año – 1 mar 1697 año)

Descripción:

Maya codices are folding books written by the pre-Columbian Maya civilization in Maya hieroglyphic script on Mesoamerican bark paper. The folding books are the products of professional scribes working under the patronage of deities such as the Maize Brother Gods (Hunahpu and Xbalanque) and the Howler Monkey God (Hun Batz). Most of the codices were destroyed by conquistadors and Catholic priests in the 16th century. The codices have been named for the cities where they eventually settled. The Dresden codex is generally considered the most important of the few that survive due to the fact that it’s the oldest, being made between 1200 to 1250 CE. The content of these codices involves around astronomy, rituals, and calendars.

Own experience: I’ve played the game Civilization 5 as a young boy and my favorite leader that gives me the easy wins is Pacal of the Maya, which led me to check out the history of the Mayans.
