Oliver Cromwell was the Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England. Calvinism was the main religion, and most fun activities were banned- drinking, dancing, singing, games, and gambling. England was a Republic, and the House of Lords in Parliament was abolished; Parliament was purely made up of common people. Many English people wanted the Monarchy to return, so Charles II was invited to take the throne in 1660.
