Koh-i-Noor is presented to the
Mughal Emperor at the time, Shah
Jahan by Persian merchant Mir Jumla
- 1738Iranian ruler Nadir Shah Afshar
seizes the Mughal treasury and
gives the diamond the name

- 1739Nadir Shah Afshar is assassinated,
passing the diamond to his son
and then grandson, Shahrukh
- 1747After Shahrukh's throne is threatened
he sought protection from Ahmad Shad
Durrani, the ruler of Afghanistan, in
exchange for the Koh-i-Noor
- 1751Shad Sujha is forced to flee to
Punjab, where Ranjit Singh, the
Sikh ruler exchanged protection
for a number of jewels including
the Koh-i-Noor
- 1830Duleep Singh is dispossessed
and is forced to surrender the
diamond to Queen Victoria
