Adolf Hitler is appointed chancellor of GermanyThe Nazi Party initiates a one-day boycott of Jewish-owned businessesThe public burning of books written by Jews and writers known for having anti-Nazi views is carried out. Such writers include Thomas and Heinrich Mann, Heinrich Heine and Albert Einstein.A law is enacted which revokes the German citizenship that had been granted since 1918 to 'undesirable' persons (Jews from eastern Europe). This law does not target Jews, but becasue there was an increase in the number fo Jews in Germany after the First World War Jews are the primary sufferers.The Law for the Restoration of the Professional Standard of the Civil Service is enacted. The two laws deal with protecting ‘German blood and honour’ and with preventing ‘non—Aryans’ from obtaining German citizenship.The first ordinance of the Reich’s Citizenship Law (a Nuremberg Law ) is enacted.
